Heavy-duty crates are for dogs that bend wire crates, chew through plastic, or travel in a vehicle every week. The two common builds are aluminum crates and one-piece roto-molded plastic kennels. The five below come from one maker of each, so you can compare the two approaches as well as the models.

Every specification on this page comes from the manufacturer’s own product page, checked on 26 October 2026. We have not used these products ourselves, so the picks are based on published specifications only.

Size the crate first with how to measure your dog for a crate and sizing a crate for an adult dog. For travel, see travel dog crates explained.

How we chose these

  • Material and construction stated by the maker.
  • Sizes with dimensions published, so you can match the crate to your dog.
  • Warranty terms stated, including whether dog damage is covered.

Impact states that its lifetime warranty covers manufacturing defects in hardware and craftsmanship, not normal wear or damage caused by the dog. RuffLand lists a limited lifetime warranty; read its terms before you buy.

2. Impact Collapsible Dog Crate, Pro Series: for vehicles and working dogs

The Pro Series is Impact’s collapsible crate designed with military, law enforcement and professional handlers in mind. Impact says it sets up in seconds and folds flat, and adds high-anxiety ventilation, a reinforced bar door and zinc-plated steel paddle latches meant to resist escape attempts. Crates of the same size stack.

  • Sizes (L x W x H): 30.5 x 20.5 x 26 in, 34.5 x 23 x 29 in, 40.5 x 23 x 29 in, 40.5 x 27 x 33 in, 48 x 27 x 33 in (Impact).

4. RuffLand Medium Kennel: for a light, tough plastic kennel

RuffLand makes its kennels in the USA by rotational molding, which produces a seamless one-piece shell that RuffLand says resists cracking and warping. • Exterior 27.625 x 18 x 20.75 in; interior 25.8 x 17.65 x 18.75 in; weight about 17 lb (RuffLand).
